Apartments Hohenberger is located in Mallnitz in a south-facing high valley in the Hohe Tauern at 1,200 metres above sea level. With the construction of the Tauern Tunnel from 1901-1909, Mallnitz experienced an upswing, became a national park community and has since developed into a winter destination for skiers and snowboarders. Mallnitz is also high-altitude health resort and a mountaineering village. The Mallnitz-Obervellach railway station with direct connections to even international destinations as far as Munich or Zagreb makes Mallnitz ideal for sustainable tourism. This makes Mallnitz a year-round destination. In addition to the Ankogel/Mölltaler Gletscher ski areass, the quiet village of Mallnitz offers numerous other winter activities: cross-country skiing on about 24 kilometres of cross-country trails (classic and skating), tobogganing on the 3 kilometre toboggan run, winter hiking, ski touring and snowshoe hiking.

The Ski-area Ankogel is located in the Seebachtal, one of the 3 valleys of Mallnitz. The top station is located at an altitude of over 2,600 metres and as a weather divide between north and south, the Ankogel ski area gets teh benefit of the snowfall on both sides of the main Tauern ridge. This is why the snow lasts particularly long in winter and the firn in spring. The family ski area offers an above-average amount of space per skier on the ski slopes and is also known for its very large freeride and ski-touring area. The Köfele lifts in the Seebachtal next to the ropeway bottom station are ideal for beginners and ski school students. The season at Ankogel usually starts in mid-December and lasts almost until almost Easter.

The Mölltaler Gletscher ski area offers snow for skiers and snowboarders when other resorts have none. Perfectly groomed slopes for about 300 days of the year - that makes the Mölltaler Gletscher one of the ski areas in Austria with the greatest certainty of snow. The Mölltaler Gletscher ski area is accessed by the world's longest underground funicular railway, the "Gletscherexpress", with a length of 5 kilometres. This takes winter sports enthusiasts comfortably and quickly to the middle station at 2,200 metres in just 8 minutes. From there, the Eissee gondola takes you to the fabulous mountain world for the pleasure of skiing with a unique panoramic view of around 30 three-thousand-metre peaks in the Hohe Tauern for their skiing pleasure.
